Meet Mandy.....
Amanda Kost has been involved with dogs her whole life.... Growing up with Miniature Schnauzers and dreaming of Giant Schnauzers, she added both to her 'dog' life. Wanting to have the BEST trained family friend, Mandy began extensive training in the areas of obedience, rally obedience, agility, SAR, tracking and therapy dog certification. She has trialed her giants to many titles! Believing in the AKC family dog program, she became an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator and AKC Temperament Test evaluator. Additionally, seeing the ever present need for Therapy Dogs, Amanda certified and titled three of her giant schnauzers as Therapy Dogs. She became a Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dog evaluator to help other handler teams achieve this very rewarding certification. Whatever your goals are for your furry family member, Amanda is looking forward to helping you bring out the BEST in YOUR Best Friend.....

Basic Puppy Skills 1
AGE: 8 weeks - 5 months
VACCINES: First set of puppy shots
AKC Skills Test: S.T.A.R. Puppy (optional)
GOAL: To start to develop sound 'focus' habits and good manners as soon as your pup comes home!
BASIC Skills: Sit, Down, Stand, Name Recognition, With Me Walking, Stays and Basic Recalls
TOPICS Covered: Mat training, Crate training, Potty Training, Any topics you want to cover
GAMES: Various puppy age appropriate games to support the basic skills learned
HOMEWORK: Practice assignments given every week.
WEEKLY Report Card: Reviewing your progress
Session Length: 6 - 1 hour private weekly sessions

BASIC CANINE SKILLS 1
AGE: Over 5 months
VACCINES: All puppy shots, Rabies if over 6 months
BASIC Skills: Sit, Down, Stand, Name Recognition, Loose Leash Walking, Stays and Recalls
TOPICS Covered: Crate and Mat Training, Anxiety / Separation Issues, Making Sound Eye Contact, How to Work at Home with Your Pup, Plus any topics you want to cover
GAMES: Various games to support the skills being learned in a fun way. Great way to involve the entire family.
HOMEWORK: Weekly assignments to support the skills covered in the lesson
WEEKLY Report Card: Reviewing your progress

BASIC Skills: Adding Distance, Distraction and Time to: Sit, Down, Stand, Loose Leash Walking with a pattern, Separation from owner, Stays and Recalls adding distraction, Mat work, Proper Meet and Greet
TOPICS Covered: Resource Guarding, Retrievals and Trade, Socialization, How to Greet Nicely!
GAMES: Various games to support the skills being learned in a fun way. Great way to involve the entire family.

BASIC Skills: In the community setting: Loose Leash Walking, Sits, Downs, Recalls with Distractions, Heeling patterns, Settles in Public Locations, Proper Car Etiquette, Proper Door etiquette, Proper Meet and Greet in a Public.
TOPICS Covered: Teaching Objects Names, How to Choose Items, How to Make Choices

Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog Certification
PRE-REQ: AKC CGC and at least 1 year of age
VACCINES: UpToDate on all vaccines / titer acceptable
BASIC Skills: Class will cover information regarding therapy work as a team, facilities that accept therapy dogs, proper handling procedures within those facilities and all requirements for the Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog Evaluation
HOMEWORK: Weekly assignments to support the skills covered in the lesson
WEEKLY Report Cards: Reviewing your progress
Session Length: 4 -- 1 hour private weekly sessions
Cost: $220 -- Includes the $20 Bright and Beautiful Certification Exam Fee
